During the Tears of a Tiger book, Ms. Aponte had us write a poem on what was on our mind. I was afraid of some stuff at the time and I just decided to write this poem.
To Be Scared By an Owl: *
Looking back.
Thinking back.
Trying to run away.
From the fear,
You know, the fear that is devouring you.
You try to run away.
But every time you get far enough,
It comes up and bites you in the butt.
You can never get away.
You can never forget.
Running away will never help.
You have to turn around.
And face your fear head on,
Almost like a bull facing a matador,
Except you don’t have a red sheet
There is no getting out
You might as well dig your grave now;
I’m scared to death,
And I have myself to blame.
You’d better look behind you,
An owl can attack when you least expect it.-
Thinking back.
Trying to run away.
From the fear,
You know, the fear that is devouring you.
You try to run away.
But every time you get far enough,
It comes up and bites you in the butt.
You can never get away.
You can never forget.
Running away will never help.
You have to turn around.
And face your fear head on,
Almost like a bull facing a matador,
Except you don’t have a red sheet
There is no getting out
You might as well dig your grave now;
I’m scared to death,
And I have myself to blame.
You’d better look behind you,
An owl can attack when you least expect it.-
