Daily Journals of Tears of a Tiger by Sharon Draper
These are the journals from the book Tears of a Tiger. This book is about a teenage boy who accidently kills his best friend in an automobile accident. He takes it apon himself to feel bad about it and regret everything. This book really showed me how some people really feel. At times I only feel that I am the only one on this earth, but I guess not.

Tears of a Tiger
What are the reasons why people drink and
drive?
I think people drink and drive because they feel it’s an
inconvenience to call a cab or make someone else drive for
you.
Describe a time when you made a poor
choice
The time it was a couple days before my 16th birthday,
I got really drunk at my friends house and one thing led to another and I ended
up calling my sister to pick me up. She came to pick me up, and was calling me
to come out of the house, since I was so drunk I couldn’t go through her house.
My friend made a decision that I was going to go out through the 2nd
story window and I ended up jumping off her roof and onto the concrete. This
affected my sister because I had to inconvenience her to come and pick me up
and deal with my drunken stupor for a couple hours.

What could have been done to prevent the accident? Be sure to consider all
possibilities?
Well for one B.J should of drove since he was not drinking. All
of them knew the consequences of drinking but they still went ahead and took the
risks of it all. They could of not been drinking or driving at all.
Why do you suppose it wasn’t?
It wasn’t done because they wanted to have a good time and let loose.

If you were in Andy’s shoes, would you be able to forgive yourself? Explain your
answer
If I was in Andy’s shoes I probably would not be able to forgive myself, being as I was so stupid
to drive drunk, and kill one of my best friends. Robbie also died in a very bad manner,
he was burned alive. I most likely wouldn’t be able to forgive myself for that also.

Internal: That he feels guilty with that fact that
he was the cause of his best friend’s death – Man against self

Symbolism: when one thing is used to represent something else.
$5 bill represents trouble.
A stepfather with a $5 bill can buy a bottle of whiskey, a
nickel bag of pot, or a rock of crack.
He smokes it, or drinks it, and goes home and knocks his kids around.
$5 bill also represents the 5 dollars that Rob used to buy the 6
pack of beer.

How does your attitude bring you into conflict with your parents
and teachers?
With your parents it may cause trouble at home,
With teachers it affects your school work and your future.

How do you predict the story will end?
I honestly think that Andy is going to commit suicide, because
he can’t bare himself anymore.
